Background

This tool generates mailing packages for the sixth front in a constitutional campaign to restore the Patent Clause’s promise. Owner-operators pay $5,000–$10,000 for DPF replacements on trucks that could be built without aftertreatment systems if patent-expired engine designs were permitted to enter the public domain as the Constitution requires.

The Trump administration’s 2025–2026 actions (DEF sensor removal, Right to Repair guidance, GHG Endangerment Finding rescission) addressed part of the aftertreatment burden — but every action is guidance that a future EPA administrator can reverse. A Patent Clause court ruling is permanent.

What This Tool Generates

For each association you select, the tool builds a mailing package:

1. Cover Letter (1 page) — personalized with your contact info and the association’s leadership name and address. Editable in preview.
2. Constitutional Brochure (3 pages) — “The Forgotten Half of the Patent Clause: A Trade Association Briefing.” Toggle this on or off if you print brochures separately.

How to Use

1. Open this HTML file by double-clicking it. Works in any browser. No internet required.
2. Enter your information and click “Save My Info.”
3. Click Continue to proceed to association selection.
4. Choose State or National level using the radio buttons, then pick an association from the dropdown. Name, address, and leadership auto-fill.
5. Optionally edit the leadership name, title, or address fields if you have more current information.
6. Use the Google Search link to verify the address before printing.
7. Click Preview & Print. Pages display on screen for review. Use the Print / Save as PDF button or Ctrl+P / Cmd+P to print.

Editing the Cover Letter

The cover letter is fully editable in preview. Click anywhere on the letter text to customize it before printing.

Brochure Toggle

If you print brochures professionally on color paper, uncheck “Include brochure pages” to generate cover letters only (1 page instead of 4).

Reporting Errors

If you find a data error (wrong address, incorrect leader name, etc.), use the “Report an Error” section that appears when you select an association. The buttons there copy the association’s details to your clipboard or open a pre-filled email to Roleigh Martin at roleigh@pobox.com.

Printing Tips

Set Margins to “None,” enable “Background graphics,” and use US Letter paper. The cover letter layout is window-envelope friendly — fold in thirds and the recipient address shows through a #10 window envelope.
